My daughter is planning to study in Norway this fall. Her school here in the U.S. gave her no guidance at all, so she just applied for her student visa two months before she needs to be there and the earliest appointment she could get with the consulate is a week before she needs to leave. Sounds like that is way too short of a turnaround. Is it possible to get into the country on a tourist visa and apply for her student visa there? Or, could she get a tourist visa and leave the country multiple times, so she’s only in Norway for 90 days during the course of the semester? Sounds like her schedule might be flexible enough to make this work?? Any help appreciated!

I am interested in applying to a master’s program in Norway. I am an older student (50) and, while this is fairly common in the United States, I was turned down for a program in another EU country because of my age. I am wondering if this might also hold true in Norway?

Thank you for your well written and clear description of your experience in Norway. I have a few questions. When does school start in Norway for the academic year? In the US as you know most universities start in August if on the semester system and in October if on the quarters system.
2-How much time in advance do you need to apply to get your student visa?
3-Once you give the $105,000 NOK how long does it take to get back?
4-Can you go to school in Norway if you aren’t fluent in Norweigan?
5- are the classes pass or fail? Is that what you meant by two grades?
6-My son is graduating from high school in June and it’s been his dream since he was in 7th grade to go to school in Norway along with his best friend who is Norweigan and has a home there as well as here ( They’ve been best friends since 7th grade and go to school together). He is going to be roommates with him there, so he’ll pay rent to his friends parents.

Any advise on how to start learning Norwegian ? Is there any website or app for learning the language?
