A really indescribable experience, over and over again. As for the first question: yes, there are quite some Sami people that I know, some of those mentioned even personally, with a special shout out to Mikkel Gaup, as I visited him in 2013 at his home in the Mehamn region.
Special Sami story? Alright. Wandering in the Finnmark in June 2017 I ended up in Vadsø, where we decided to attend a local concert by some not so local friends. Anyhow, surprisingly Elle-Marja Eira sang a joik accompanied by ……(wel look for yourself):
