Your British humor adds to my regret that I didn’t find some way of building my life with one foot each in Norway and Britain, the two places where I feel at home. (I was stupid in 1984 and chose ‘Murrka instead. Right…go ahead, then. Laugh it up…) And then there’s the idea of “culture shock” attained by switching from Trondheim to Glasgow. I assume this is ironic humor, because the only substantial difference is the language, and even those two languages are are basically two different dialects, in the grand scheme of things. Sikker tok det bare et par måned før du ble flyttend på norsk, ikke sant? Heck, there’s even a hydrofoil–the world’s fastest ferry–between the two cities–that makes getting across that stretch of the Norwegian Sea not much more hassle than crossing a river.

Wait, did you say the Scottish Highlands are even more beautiful than Norway? How could it be possible for any place to be so? I’ll have to visit and see that for myself. Until then, I’m skeptical.

So I must thank you for a good laugh. Let me give you one in return: Wouldn’t it be jolly to move to ‘Murrka? We have the greatest President in the history of Presidents, you know! We’re also the land of opportunity (I won’t say whose).

Norway is much better for me and my family to visit as a holiday.

I am a 61 Brit living in Steinkjer. Lived for 40 years in Cornwall, nice place. I would never go back to the UK to live. Only to visit.
