Hello David,
I will move to Oslo in the next months (hopefully). As for my first 3-6 months there, I will stay in an appartment that my company will provide for me, but I will need my own place soon. I don’t like to share the appartment with others, so I will be on a search soon. I like the idea of the hills. Especially for the ski time. How much is the rent there? Is it an expensive area?
Can you explain me what a hybel is? Is an one bedroom appartment? Something like a studio? There are rooms such as the kitchen that you share with others?

In reply to Cindy. Hi Cindy, you can find a hybel or other housing on www.finn.no or www.hybel.no. However, a landlord will want to meet you in person before signing a contract, plus you will need at least 3 months rent in advance as a deposit.

It is pretty steep up there in some places, but wow, what a view! I am lucky enough to live on the South East side with easy access to Østmarka with it’s skog and lakes; it’s a little quieter than Nordmarka which is now on your doorstep! (Mind you, ‘quieter’ is relative!)
Oh, and I love the Northampton Town Football Club coaster 🙂

Congrats on the move! We were just up there yesterday with our guests. A LOVELY area. Afterward, one of our guests spent a couple hours on Finn.no trying to find flats in the Holmenkollen/Frognerseteren area… haha! Can’t blame her. Enjoy that view!
