There’s also an interesting modern story of the local politics that led to the construction of this site (2014 final vote securing the site). It was a coalition of the left party and the farmer’s party, with opposition from the labor party and the right-wing party. This is a good example of local politics creating alliances that are different than at the national level. Some of this story is in relation to the new land mass as a result of the tunneling between Gudvangen and Flåm. You didn’t mention the fully electric ferries between Gudvangen and Flåm. Is the Viking Village still planning to build the electric Viking ship? That’s what they were saying in 2018.
