Oscar Bobb is no longer simply one to watch at Manchester City. After injury setbacks, a move to Fulham, and a place in Norway鈥檚 new generation of attacking talent, the Oslo-born winger remains one of the country鈥檚 most exciting footballers.
For many years, Norwegian football fans could only dream of seeing a group of attacking players starring at the very top level of European football.
That has now changed. Erling Haaland became one of world football鈥檚 most feared goalscorers. Martin 脴degaard developed from teenage prodigy into Arsenal captain and one of the Premier League鈥檚 most elegant playmakers.
Alexander S酶rloth, Antonio Nusa and others have added further depth to Norway鈥檚 attacking options.
Among that group is Oscar Bobb, a player whose story has already taken in Oslo, Porto, Manchester and London before his 23rd birthday.
For a while, it looked as if Bobb might be the next Norwegian to properly break through at Manchester City. Instead, his career has taken a slightly different path. A move to Fulham in January 2026 has given him the chance to step out of the shadow of the Etihad Stadium and establish himself as a Premier League regular in his own right.
A footballing childhood in Oslo
Oscar Bobb was born in Oslo on 12 July 2003. His early football development came at Lyn, a small club in the Norwegian capital with a reputation for developing technical players.
His talent was spotted early. As a child, Bobb was linked with Portuguese giants Porto, but that chapter became complicated by international transfer rules and legal issues around the movement of young players. The move did not work out as hoped, and Bobb eventually returned to Norway.
Back in Oslo, he joined V氓lerenga, one of Norway鈥檚 best-known clubs. By then, it was clear that he was not an ordinary young player. Bobb鈥檚 balance, close control and confidence with the ball made him stand out even among talented peers.
In 2019, Manchester City made their move. Bobb joined the club鈥檚 academy as a highly rated teenager from V氓lerenga, entering one of the most competitive youth systems in world football.
Learning the Manchester City way
Breaking into Manchester City鈥檚 first team is difficult for any player, let alone a teenager arriving from Norway. The standard in training is high, the pathway is crowded, and the expectations are relentless.
But Bobb adapted. He impressed in City鈥檚 youth sides and became known as a player with exceptional technical ability. He could play on either wing, drift into central areas, and operate between the lines. The moment that truly announced him to a wider audience came in January 2024 at Newcastle United. With the match level late on, Kevin De Bruyne played a stunning pass into the penalty area. Bobb controlled the ball brilliantly, took it around the goalkeeper, and scored a stoppage-time winner.
It was a goal full of calmness and quality, and it later won the Premier League Goal of the Month award. For many City fans, it felt like the start of something significant.
Promise interrupted
The timing of Bobb鈥檚 breakthrough made what happened next even more frustrating.
Ahead of the 2024-25 season, he appeared ready to play a bigger role for Manchester City. He had impressed in pre-season and seemed to be moving closer to regular involvement in Pep Guardiola鈥檚 squad.
Then came a serious setback. Bobb suffered a fractured leg in training shortly before the season began. Guardiola initially said he would be out for three or four months, but the recovery took longer than expected.
For a young player trying to establish himself at one of the world鈥檚 biggest clubs, the injury came at a cruel time.
This is why the story of Oscar Bobb is more complicated than a simple 鈥渘ext superstar鈥� narrative. His ability has never really been in doubt. The challenge has been timing, fitness and opportunity.
By the time he returned, City had moved on through another demanding season, and competition for attacking places remained fierce. Bobb had shown enough to prove he belonged at Premier League level, but not enough to guarantee the minutes he needed.
A fresh start at Fulham
In January 2026, Bobb left Manchester City and on a permanent deal.
Fulham described him as an elegant winger who thrives with the ball at his feet, primarily operating from the right flank and cutting inside onto his stronger left foot.
That role suits him well. Bobb is not a traditional touchline winger who simply beats a man and crosses. He likes to combine, drift, create angles, and unsettle defenders with quick feet and subtle changes of direction.
At Fulham, the expectations are different from Manchester City. There is pressure, of course, but also more room to grow. Instead of fighting for minutes among a squad packed with global superstars, Bobb has the opportunity to become a central figure in a Premier League team. That move may yet prove to be the making of him.
Bobb and Norway鈥檚 golden generation
Bobb鈥檚 rise also matters because of what is happening around the Norwegian national team.
For decades, Norway struggled to turn individual promise into tournament football. The country last appeared at a men鈥檚 World Cup in 1998, despite producing several excellent players in the years since.
Now, the picture looks different. Haaland gives Norway a world-class focal point. 脴degaard provides creativity and leadership. Around them, there is a wider group of attacking players capable of changing games.

Haaland and 脴degaard are already established names in world football. Oscar Bobb is not there yet. But his talent, technique and football intelligence suggest he still has the chance to join them.
